It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Omar Simba Mwalimbo, which occurred on 15th October 2025 at Imani Hospital, Mombasa, after a short illness.
Son of the late Rashid Mwalimbo and Mama Fatma Salim of Old Town, Mombasa.
Loving husband to Mrs. Halima Salim Bakari, devoted father to Omar Jr. (Zanzibar), Nawal Salim (KU), and Amira Salim (Boresha Academy, Mombasa).
Brother to Asha Mwalimbo, Hamisi Mwalimbo, and Yusuf Mwalimbo, among others.
Mr. Mwalimbo was a respected businessman and fisherman, with over 30 years of service building small vessels along the East African coast. His professionalism and mentorship shaped many young seafarers who now work in different places.
He was a pillar in the fishing community, supporting education initiatives and coastal youth programs.
The funeral prayer (Janazah) and burial took place on Thursday, 16th October 2025, at Kikowani Cemetery, Mombasa, in accordance with Islamic rites.
Family and friends continue to gather at the Bakari residence in Kizingo for prayers and condolences.
